Another Blog War Begins

I never thought that a thing like ‘blog war’ existed until I found this site dragged unwittingly into one of those “blog wars”. Some blogger who calls herself ‘virgomonkey‘ and owns a blog titled “Waging A War on the Radical Right and Radical Left” decided to start a smear campaign against Aby The Liberal. On a closer inspection of this said blog, I was amused to find that the last six or so posts in that blog are dedicated to passionate bashing of my site. Most of these posts were peppered with insults, outrageous lies and conspiracy claims (a lot of them being taller than Mount Everest). Most of her fodder presumably came from my non-existent ‘husband’ or ‘wife’, who supposedly found her blog offensive and gifted her with ‘hate mails’ to put up in one of her pages.
It appears that the tactic of using outrageous lies and made up quotes to bash a blog is not a first. A quick google search brought up a case of Glenn Reynolds, a legendary blogger whose popularity prompted Frank J., an attention seeker to launch a tirade of outrageous lies and slanders against Glenn’s blog. An excerpt from The Alliance
Frank J., of IMAO, is an up-and-coming blogger who occasionally mocks Glenn as a way to gain attention. His first method was making up outrageous lies: Glenn puts puppies in blenders and drinks them; Glenn murders hobos for fun; Glenn worships Satan; Glenn is a communist spy who does the robot dance; Glenn punched Frank J.
Later, Frank attempted to get Google to bring up Glenn’s site if the terms “liberal assclown” were entered. Results were mixed.
A lot of the lies used by virgomonkey against Aby The Liberal look strikingly similar to those employed by Frank J. against Glenn Reynolds. I am yet to decide whether these outrageous claims are satirical jokes or some serious attention seeking behaviour. As she was recently banned from this site for trolling, this might also be her way of getting back. In one of her latest posts, she alleges that this particular comment of hers is supposedly a forgery. Since an allegation of forgery is more scandalous than admitting a troll comment, it becomes quite obvious what that blogger’s agenda is.
I guess the next thing I should expect would be a ‘blogring’ of troll bloggers deciding to ‘wage a war’ against this site. Or maybe some more made up hate mails, quotes or something even more outrageous. Perhaps a picture of my so called ‘wife’ or ‘husband’ is in the cards. Or better still, an honest apology for making unsavoury jokes.

I’ve got to admire your dignity.
Blogging should be about ideas and commentary - if you haven’t got anything useful to say, certainly don’t have a blog. Blogging against other blogs is a symptom of egomania - a desire to be heard.
Ignore the retarded loonies. I find your site interesting and informative, and I’m grateful for the information I get from you, Aby, and all the lively, amusing and informative debates.
Although I havn’t read this blog you are talking about, I would have to say that I could not care the least. Everyone has the right to post whatever BS they want(unfortunatly, I don’t think many people are mature or responsible enough to do so). However, I am sure that there are many people who feel that this site is full of outrages lies and slander. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Who cares. For every person who reads this blog, there are probably more than one who disagree with it and dislike your writings. Why is this worth our time?
She is quite vindictive. Freedom of speech does not cover slander or libel, as well there are reasonable limitations such as prohibitions on making threats. Ultimately, it’s a credibility issue–if she made multiple posts within the same instance, IP backtracing would confirm if it was her. In other words, that nut has zero credibility.
Mr. Mike, I am ready to make a public apology and instantly close down this site if you are able bring up any credible evidences that I (or any of the regular authors) made posts containing libel, slander and outrageous lies against any private individual. We do not do such things in this site, no matter what the provocation may be.
As Bridgette cleverly pointed above, freedom of speech does not entitle a person to make slanderous or libellous claims against a person. If a person were to start making claims you are a child rapist and published that in their blog(s) with the intention of harming your reputation, they would be liable to persecution on several counts of legal offence.
I read the blog you’re talking about and it brings to my mind the popular saying, “Never argue with a fool. They drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience!”.
A little preview of her blog rants reveal that she is either a classic fool or a satire on fools. Her posts are peppered with self-righteous, logically fallacious rants. Her weak arguments can be ripped to shreds by anyone with a reasonable debating skill. She evades direct arguments with indirect non-sequiturs and fights wit with vidictive swearwords.
I think the best way to approach this attempt at blog war would be to ignore her. Give her a royal ignore and laugh off her creative attention seeking attempts. It is inevitable that she will have a small fan following for her war against this site. Thanks to human silliness, even the most ridiculous cause can have a cult following. You can’t make idiots intelligent by pointing out their stupidity, so don’t even bother to try.

Glad that you can spot the fallacies. It is ironic how her handful of blog readers gobble up every word of her rants against Aby (or others), without question or criticism, including her conviction that Aby is a female. For someone who can’t even get a person’s gender or politics right after months of obsession with his writings, it is a bit rich to be giving labels to his personality. It is even more rich to sing self appraisals on how good her ability “to see through viels and spot a wolf in a sheep’s clothing” are.
Virgomonkey, whoever she is, sounds a lot like a scorned lover who starts to spread rumours that her ex-boyfriend has an STD, to get even by reducing his potential dates. The not-so-clever ones will fall for the gossip like flies in a spider web and avoid him like plague. The smarter ones will see a vendetta behind this gossip and hence, will spot the fallacy immediately, viz. if he really has an STD, she wouldn’t be singing about it.
Since she finds that she can’t provoke Aby to an inflammatory reaction, her attacks against Aby will increase in their severity and frequency. Inflammatory labels like KGB nationalist, Eurotrash, pseudo-intellectual, narcisstic Euronationalists, Americanophobe, radical groups, extremists, right-wing nationalist, Hitler sympathizer, etc already find a place on her blog, whenever she links to “Aby The Liberal” in her non-stop rants. Inspite of the non-credible nature of these labels, they find a fan following in her handful of readers. One has to just look into the comment section to see how these cult loyals accept every bit of her claims on Aby without criticism or question. The typical symptoms of S-factor personalities, people who are too naive to spot fallacies or question questionable judgements.
The lady has an unwavering obsession with Aby. She posts more often about this blog than this blog gets new posts. Seems like a lady on a personal vendetta.

I agree that she is obsessed with ATL. A look at her obsessive attacks and negative references to Aby The Liberal makes that clear as daylight. But I doubt she has anything personal against Aby, since she couldn’t possibly know him personally. Her wrong references to Aby’s gender, politics, education and nationality is a glaring evidence to this fact. (I knew Aby personally, as one of my former professors and mentor.)
Picking up from her blog posts, I think she has an intense desire to be heard and read. Attacking Aby The Liberal, a relatively popular site, is the easiest way to that agenda. By increasing the ferocity of her inflammatory attacks against Aby’s character and personality, she expects an equally outrageous response from Aby which will drive her blog to instant fame.
Seeing that she can’t evoke the desired response from Aby, her next line of attacks will get even more libellous. You can for instance, expect her to quote words that Aby never said, just to get the dig out of Aby. Little does she realise that Aby is too busy with his work and life to care reading her blog and her libels. Or maybe she doesn’t even care, as long as she manages to rope in a little of the traffic that Aby The Liberal gets.

Oh hang on, virgomonkey just made a post here about how she is convinced that all comments in Aby The Liberal are fake and made by the same person under different aliases. How could we all have missed that? I mean, she is a “people watcher” for heaven’s sake, “the kind that can see through viels and spot a wolf beneath a sheep’s clothing“. Such a person can’t be wrong!
Aby must be faking everything - the comments, the popularity, the traffic, even the Google rankings and news media references. After all news agencies like CNN, MSNBC and NBC are “fake stuff” in Aby’s hands, propagating the propaganda that Aby wants Americans to hear. Beware all ye free thinking folks, there is a great conspiracy at work! The SWISS ARE COMINGGGGG!
I have been hoodwinked.
I was kept in the dark about all these ‘facts’ that virgomonkey found out with her unbeatable people watching abilities. I must have been hoodwinked into not realising that Aby is in fact, a fat psychotic Canadian woman with a “mad case of multiple personalities”. Alas, I have learnt my lesson the hard way! *bangs his stupid and ignorant Euronationalist head* Next time before I convince myself of people’s nationality and gender, I will insist on seeing their passports and willies. After all, I don’t have virgomonkey’s kind of X-Ray vision at spotting people.
On a serious note, she seems to be desperate to be find chinks in Aby’s site, even when there aren’t any. If some commenter agrees with Aby, it must be one of Aby’s aliases to “further her agenda”. If they don’t, it must be Aby being smartly manipulative to “make her plan less obvious”. virgomonkey got the skills of those conspiracy idiots, who claim that the WTC attacks or Beslan crises were “inside job”. Her statement follows the same self-fulfilling line of reasoning.
This virgomonkey character is a dubious bulshitter. I stumbled across her site from an Australian cookery blog and was left quite stunned at the vendetta-like tone in her site. By calling herself a liberal American, she is being an embarassment to all of us who are actual liberal Americans. After I posed a few questions to the credibility of her convictions, she is now convinced that I am Aby. She claims with a conviction that my IP is the same as that of Aby, which has the same possibility of being true as she being a Nazi slut’s daughter.
After this incident, I am convinced beyond doubt that she is a liar, a forgerer and a master bullshitter who would make up any sort of thing to convince people. Congratulations Aby for unmasking this sad blot on humanity!

I congratulate you virgo, for being ages ahead of me in being a fraud and a liar. However, it won’t be for long. Lying and fradulent allegations against the opposition can boost yourselves to your readers short term, but will hurt your credibility long term. It is as consistent as gravity. Like what happened to the Nazi propaganda during World War 2 era, it will eventually fall apart once people come to realise the hollowness of your accusations.

As for virgomonkey, she attacks me not because she hates me but because she feels threatened in the face of logic and reason. Her extensive use of fallacies like “straw man” arguments, “poisoning the well” and “Ad-Hominem” personal attacks against me gives the hint. A tip: The link here gives a list of popular fallacies used in arguments. Once you grasp the concepts, try reading a post or comments in virgomonkey’s blog.

If I really were a sheltered call center agent from India as you say, I wouldn’t know what the Swastika means in a ‘western society’. So your point that I’m using Swastika “to be different” is moot since India has a Dharmic culture. Symbolic representations of Swastika are widely used in daily life. If I subscribe to popular practices, I can’t be “different”. You can’t have the cake and eat it too, virgo.

It is actually the other way round. You have such a vendetta against critics of America that you have turned blind to reason and open to fallacies. You use xenophobic haters of America as straw men to vilify people those who have genuine concerns about or against America. You read too much of anti-American literature in the internet and construe it as hatred. You attack those who you percieve to be hating Americans and use their counter attacks as a justification to hate American critics even further. You’re going the way of Don Quixote of La Mancha.

Come on, don’t ask people to do something you yourself aren’t inclined to. That, virgomonkey, is called hipocrisy. Your ‘love’ of Japan and France is as real as your outlandish claims about people you have a distaste for. You want to make yourself look a little more ‘worldly’ to give yourself some credibility, much the same way you label people “terrorist” to vilify them.

How do you ‘buy’ something if I am not selling it? However if you are so desperate to know, I’ll give you a hint. Teen Hut was started as a hobby during my teenage years, which ultimately became a large forum earning 5 million hits a day. It will be foolish of me (Cambridge education nonetheless) to be closing down such a large site just because I am an adult now, especially since this site earns the livelihood of several people. It is also for the same reason that I didn’t quit my military directorate after I got into university.
The original Teen Hut (teen-hut.net) started at about the same time as Hi5 and Teen Hut today is the #1 site in its category, as per Google rankings. We have beaten a number of media and corporate initiatives in this area, including the forums of Cosmogirl and Seventeen. That is done without the multimillion dollar budgets or the large 24/7 workforce which comes with sites of this scale. You can make an impression of the site’s size by the amount of traffic than an obscure discussion thread generated to your blog.

It is not my purpose to make you believe in what you don’t want to believe. Even if I weren’t a military professional with a certain level of discretion, giving you my personal information would be a suicidal win-lose situation. From what I have seen of you till now, you are an impulsive person of a vindictive nature, without a sense of honour. Evidences that you are virgomonkey
First Indicator: In the (unlikely) case you are are indeed not virgomonkey, did you ever bother asking proof of what virgo says of me? I see selective judgement here, which could only happen if you share an unthinking cult devotion to her or share the same human body. She could claim that I am a Palestinian suicide bomber and you would jump into the bandwagon about “how you always knew Sasha was a suicide bomber”.
Second Indicator: Assuming for a once again that you are not the same person as virgomonkey, how come you agree to whatever inane claim she makes without any a thought? For one, you immediately jumped into her bandwagon on attacking Aby, as she referred to him as a “she” and claimed he was my “wife”. As I refer to Aby as a “he”, you decided that I am lying because according to virgomonkey “Aby is supposed to be a girl”. Blind acceptance much?
Third Indicator: You complement virgomonkey’s attacks or make creative additions to her claims, in the same style of writing as she does and in the same time slots. Virgomonkey keeps changing her claims about me as it suits her agenda and you jump in with a devoted person - sometimes I am a “Russian soldier in the US military” (if such an oxymoron exists) while at other times I am an “Indian call center agent” (a hilarious one, to be honest). It is like you are a shadow of her.
Fourth Indicator: You keep trolling here singing praises of virgomonkey and her ‘abilities’, much in the same way she does about herself in her own blog. You troll here much the same way she did, against the same people that she devoted her past attacks to. The only difference is that you don’t use swearwords and link spam to your blog this time (avoiding self-implication?).
Fifth Indicator: As a middle aged adult who claims to have a life, how do you find so much time to be wasting them bashing a certain group of people? It is as if you, virgomonkey and her handful of readers have too much time in your hands to be wasting them on an egomania against who they call “teenyboppers”. If your life represents the life of average 40-year olds in America, no wonder you are so inflamed by facebook satire or a curious sarcasm that Americans can be stupid. Your bitterness reflects the these generalisations hit a nerve. As goes the saying, “Kogda koe chto - blizko ke pravde, jeto povrezhdait”.
I have three more points to prove that you and virgomonkey are the same person. But for now, the first four points will suffice. (excluding the fifth which is just a statement). You can fool some people all the time, all people some of the time but you can’t fool all the people all the time.
While I appreciate your fervour Ms. Karmen, please refrain from inflaming ‘blog warriors’ to troll here. By commenting on their blog pretending to be a representative from Aby The Liberal, you cause them to keep up their attacks against ATL. Presuming of course, that you are not another alias of the so called blogger, ‘virgomonkey’.
I have nothing to say about it, except that if Ms. Jane wishes to continue commenting on this site, she is free to do so, provided she does not resort to petty personal attacks and inflammatory remarks against the comment/post authors.
I recommend you practice what you preach, Captain. By making pinching replies to Jane’s comments and linking to her site, you are fuelling the ‘blog war’ which entirely comes from her side. As of now, she has resorted to copyright theft as a new means to provoke this site.

When one has a Blog or website devoted to voicing their opinions, with no doubt there will be people willingly to “Counter” your opinion, with theirs. Usually this is done in a respectfull manner. Your TROLL ( I am being Polite) solely as a tool for satisfaction is attacking you. As a child who is tired of playing the game, will walk away, this individual will tire of not getting their reward–Your Attention-and move on to someone else–

I agree with Joe Hunley above. Virgomonkey is nothing more than a typical troll who scourges blogs, forums and even facebook humour groups to find something to bouy her nationalist outrage with. She spents a lot of creative energy making up outrageous lies about Aby and others she is at odds with, which shows that she doesn’t have much of a life (~ too much time on her hands).
Her random last remark here gives a pointer that she probably worked in some call center or online english tutorial which had its base shifted to India (or some Asian country) for cost cutting. She probably couldn’t find a satisfactory job after getting laid off which explains her random vendetta against ‘un-Americans’ and specifically Indians/Asians. It also explains her diehard support of Obama (who promised Americans that he’d tax outsourcing corporations). Her claims of authority and ‘world travel’ don’t add up so I’d think she is of a mediocre education and hence needs to repeatedly proclaim her authority to her readers to boost her self esteem.
As a seed of doubt to her claims of world travel and experience, check a reference here. In her first point, she assumes that only someone of a different nationality speaks a different language which proves that she has never been far from the limits of her monoglot country. Second, she claims that one can master a language quicker with enthusiasm and want rather than a need which is another sign of inexperience. Learning a new language requires quite a lot of effort and one quickly loses the initial enthusiasm unless they are necessiated to learn the language to get by. (This reality is one of the reasons why language degree courses in Cambridge University require a year in the country of the native language.)
What she makes up in her blog is armchair punditry and ‘tabaloid’ lies rather than anything from experience or authority. Since most of her readers are as ignorant as she is, whatever she says is completely believable to them.
This woman was clearly looking for cheap pulicity by her ludicrous attacks against Aby The Liberal. Now that she has found a gainful employment she will hopefully no longer have to resort to cheap tactics for attention garnering.

Have anyone heard before that Chinese eat live monkey brains? I’ve seen some of my relatives in Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan do so.If any monkey is mischievious enough to destroy especially a Chinese farmer’s orchard,
it would be caught and its brain eaten after the farmer has cracked open the monkey’s cranium alive.The monkey brain is eaten with the monkey screaming!I may be a Chinese but I vomitted when I saw monkey brain eating!
