India currently has the 11th largest GDP in the world accounting for 1.6% of the global GDP in 2002 and ranks 26th in the world by total trade in goods and services India has been one of the fastest growing economies in the world over the last 20 years. The demography of our country is opposite that of Japan and the European nations. Fifty per cent of India's population is less than 25 years of age. Fifty per cent of our GDP comes from services with agriculture and manufacturing contributing 25 per cent each. If we can achieve 10 per cent growth in each of these sectors in the next 10-15 years, we can become an economic superpower. But, to achieve the 'economic superpower' goal, India requires massive investments in infrastructure.

Open Internet sites? So what? Of course, a good responsible internet sites will help people from gaining information, knowledge or facts they might wanted to find. But the problem is how precise or accurate for those websites your search or browse? Conversely, some websites provided sources or facts that are erroneous, modified, and incorrect. This is misleading, negative and could bring severe adverse effects to a country. If worsen, it may poisoning their people thinking or living as well as could jeopardize a healthy society. Let's take a simple comparison between China and India. How many incidences happen of raping cases in India? Not to mention to the situation occurring in the US. True. India is more democratic than China, thanks to their open internet markets wrong messages sent to their people such as pornographic. And other instigated remarks could provoke clashes to a harmony environment living as ethic groups like China and India.

Due to the globalization of 90s and economic liberalization in india foreign direct investnment boomed in india and astronomical figures in money is beinfg pumped into india but is it being used for the nations benefit??? NO the money is being siphoned off to clndestine swiss bank accounts through hawala of ministers and indian buearocrats and business community while the indian middle class is slowly squirming more and more with pain with what can only be called slow poisoning or chinese torture.

China is the largest market today and how??? it started as a communist state but learnt from the fall of soviets in 80s during Gorbachev that fanatical focus on an arms race and ignoring the domestic economic issues can be fatal indeed the biggest example is Hong Kong which is still as it was when the british gave it to china ...today china has started an economic invasion of global economy and their goods have no match in the west or india as they are rock bottom cheap and the global recession means they have an undefeatable edge.

The foreign investment in china goes to the people no to swiss bank accounts !!!!!

I can only say vehemently that having a democratic setup and a mile long constituion is no gauntee of a free country .....one must have a national ideology and self esteem which india lacks ...the only thing right now in india is how to make money as fast as possible in shortest possible time with no ethics.

India might be become economically prosperous,But we should take the idea of population control very seriously. Many people are unemployed. My relatives are all having single child.Less number of people will lead to a more prosperous nation.

New parts of the world that were not long ago considered undeveloped, those nations have now taking the center stage in the global economy.Such is the case with India. It has the resources and potential to reach to the top.But the population of India is so huge that money used up in the welfare gets diluted. So it would not be fair to expect changes in such a short time.Well, for the rest,I would only say that we should try to improve and not sing the bad conditions of other countries.India has the potential to become the GOLDEN BIRD again.

Most of the corporate offices of america and EU are depending on india directly. If one day indians will stop working then they will start thinking about their GDP.One more thing during the period of recession India was enlisted in the least effected countries. This shows the stable banking sector of India. We have to agree that there are so many illiterates in India. But before we should remember that USA & UK got independence in 1700s.But india in 1947.With in the short span of time we are able to compete with 1st world countries. That is an appreciable thing.one problem that is very difficult to solve is petrochemicals. It cant be generated in India.Being a rapidly developing country we need energy. For that we are depending on mostly on gulf countries. The only thing is maintaining diplomatic ties with global players India should have a strategy for the coming future.

I'll try to put my comments in gist as just a just-done BE bored enough to search net:)
If the question is whether India will ever be superpower or not..the answer is no doubt a "Y".

Now lets see the facts which dominates Indian society as well as economy:-
1.Culture:-Now dont make me wrong but there is difference between "Indian Culture" and pure "Hindu culture".In fact..the more you go towards the rural area..you'll see that the "cast" theory wont help you to explain the society. In "Sundarban" (since am from Bengal) area doesnt matter what you are by religion but every ppl worships "banbibi" which should be a lesson for the so called theory about "Hindu & Muslim".The Indian culture is a mixture of traditions..eventually having higher impact of the Hinduism.
2.Politics:-As far i see it anything related to India got less or more impact of its politics. Now its hard to say whether its good or bad (since we got example for both)
3.Hunger/Poverty:-We are still fighting against it.

However we need to remember that as days pass "modernization" of every definition is important. So we cant say what'll be the definition of "Superpower" in near future and how we get it.

@Education:The education system is still to be modified more. Its not yet true that India is a utopia for poor but intelligent students or even student from middle class family(like me).Only reason we can still compete the others is due the the fact that we "know" we need to be better.
@Relation with Pakistan:-Its important to understand that Pakistan is in a burning stage now and its about time that the people should channelize their potential towards "development" than having an impression of their neighbor as "nemesis". If they thinks that pushing to the limit (till war takes place) I would suggest thinking twice

Ok time to aid my concerns about the other bloggers^^
@ "some people" :-I hope since we are atm having shut our mouth about the "r*pes per minute"(pardon if sounds rude) in the urban area of the "All Mighty" nations i hope it wont be too much to ask to stop channelizing the negative impact about Indian society.
@My CN brothers:-Remember that greater your power is higher your level of responsibility. No doubt China has a super-high probability for being "strongest", but with this much impact of military in every decision made for the common people limits CN's chance to "gain" that responsibility.
@Anti-Indians:-hope you stop pushing to the limit:)

Lastly...A superpower is also to act as guardian for the rest of the world..otherwise a new sort of "world war" (e.g. cold war) will drain its presence..and since its a competition..better get prepared till the "avg" student takes the lead:P..night all:)
