Understand that India is surrounded by many countries which are hostile
(ie) Pakistan, Srilanka, China, Nepal (which has many Naxala supported by
China to create trouble in India). The question is not that which country
suffered the most in WW2... Don't you know that India too suffered huge loss
of life during independence struggle and also with wars against Pakistan and
China... India is not exaggerating Chinese military build-up but it's China which
crys foul whenever our government's representative visits the Indian state of
Arunachal Pradesh... Even last week our defence minister went to Arunachal Pradesh
and China can't digest and started issueing useless statements against it... As usual
our government put those statements at the right place (dustbin).. And there is no
need for you to teach what India or other country has to do... You are not a scholar
or intellectual to give advice to a great country like India... The subject is between
U.S and Russia and hence don't bring your dirty China/India politics here....

"I would rather say that nation states like Iran and Saudi Arabia are contributing to global unrest by their support…both financial as well as logistical to radical and militant Islamic groups. Israel just like India is forced to use aggression due to their compulsion to contain such fanatic groups from perpetrating acts of violence against their respective countries and populace. And perhaps you failed to understand the article above…the US security analysts are not fools to understand that the proposed MDS can not give them immunity against a retaliatory second strike from Russia. This is actually meant for rogue states like Iran."
Rhetoric! Indians tends to justifying their bad intentions to achieve her wild ambitious. The Indians loved to cover up they have done bad. Israel is totally different from India. Do not put Israel as the same position as India, although they both start with the alphabet of an "I". Israel is surrounded by Muslim countries, don't get me wrong. In fact, majority Muslims are good and they loved peace very much too. However, there are good and evil in every religions. I don't care whether certain religion has more lunatics than the others. Israel is indeed her past history is nearly as similar to China. They both experienced huge massacres during WW2. Did India face massive death during WW2? India does not withstand the pain of humiliation as China suffered? India has been colonized by British, unfortunately that does not count. India just exaggerating China military build-up and being utilized by the US. No doubt, India has being used as a tool against emerging China. A discerning eye will see Indians naively thought they have a chance to stand against China or put India as the same category as China. Indians should put all their efforts on how to well develop their country, but not to bad-mouth, demonize, or even jealous to the achievement that China attained. Further hostility between India and China would not help to reduce their differences.

@Andrey
I would rather say that nation states like Iran and Saudi Arabia are contributing to global unrest by their support…both financial as well as logistical to radical and militant Islamic groups. Seriously where did u ever hear of a Saudi or a muslim called Andrey? I am afraid u r the one who misunderstood the article above. The shields are nothing more than a an attempt to deal ressurgent Russia a blow to it's prestige. U cant expect that Russia would not start rearming if USA is unfolding missile systems in its backyard. Its also a strain on the Russian economy, if the arms race starts again USA is better poised to prevail due to still evolving, fragile Russian economy. Rogue states my ass, u might think Iranians are crazy but trust me they love life more than anything and they r not going to attempt to have a go at anyone. They might threaten but they r not suicidal. And even if, theoretically speaking, Iran obtains weapons of mass destructions and decides to strike nothing will stop those rockets believe me. All the buzz about missile defense is for nothing, its not possible to intercept significant amounts of missiles no matter how many patriot batteries u have. They know it, russians know it, and any person that knows something about military technologies knows this. The shield is a token, a show of American global presence and power. Honestly I would worry more about terrorists getting their hands on a dirty bomb God forbid, than a possible apocalyptic war between any two states.

I agree with the guy who said he trusts the Russians with nuclear weapons. Everyone knows the U.S. is run by a bunch of spoiled thugs and if our leaders were humble we would never be having this discussion. The fact of the matter is that the U.S. government is still living off the euphoria from winning WW2,......lol.....it is 2009 now......nuclear proliferation has now made conventional warfare useless. As for the topic, U.S. would not be the only nation involved in a nuclear exchange with Russia. You would also have France and U.K. launching nukes at them too. The whole NATO thing makes this a whole other ball game.

this is an opinion not a fact concluded by the cia and the kgb lol. currently the russian resources are just enough to supply a war defending the heartleand, not go off invading Britain or UsA lol. in terms of nuclear capabilities that advantage would be more in favor of russia, since they had that ideaology of mutual assured destruction for quite some time now. maybe they still do who knows lol.

US fails to understand you can win battles with technology but you cannot win a war. Look at Iraq they winning every battle yet losing the war. They think they have superior technology so they can challenge any power in this world yet they fail to prove their dominance in war games against technologically inferior countries like India. 90% defeat rate against refurbished MIG21 and you talking about destroying 99% of Russian nuclear arsenal. Come on be little realistic.

In such a scenario, there would be only one out come MAD. despite the projections. I therefore believe that all effort and care should be put in Nuclear proliferation and reduce the chances of such a situation because despite the technology and number of war heads a country possesses, it will always be vulnerable to serious and devastating consquencies.

In the nuclear scene, Russia is the bigger man. A bigger nuclear arsenal with more powerful weapons than United States can ever dream of, Russia has never used one in the face of several close calls. America never made strong and resilient military men like Stanislav Petrov or Vasili Arkhipov, who protected millions of human lives by doing what no American could have done. If we were to trust a nation with nuclear weapons, it is Russia.

A major military power doesn't need nukes. All it takes to ignite America's 'cut and run' instinct is a few crazed Somali warlords. The best fighting soldiers of the USA only ever tested against 3rd world armies......but even then they have a hell of a time. They cannot be tested against mights like Russia which never faced a real defeat in a war.
